Our Easter on Sunday 20th April was an amazing celebration for the birthday of Mama Cas. We started the day with a lovely breakfast before packing a picnic, complete with flasks of hot beverages, and headed to Grimwith Reservoir in the Yorkshire Dales for a fantastic walk with our Harrogate hosts. It was so beautiful and I loved being out in the fresh air. I had stomach issues as soon as we got there but I was ok for the walk, which I was glad about. It was a pleasant walk which we didn’t return from until almost 5pm.

The sun was shining so we sat outside the front door in a sun trap and sipped rosé wine while chatting to some neighbours.
Mama Cas opened cards and birthday presents and we had a bit of a laugh when Cas had a nap before his bath. Seeing them again after so long we had forgotten they were in their 70s and I could have done with a nap too but resisted.

We got a taxi in to town and tonight’s birthday meal was at a lovely Greek restaurant where we had more wine and some delicious food. Cad and Mama Cas just had calamari as they weren’t too hungry but I managed a beef stifado which was a good sized portion. It had been 12 years since the 4 of us celebrated Mamma Cas’s birthday in the Old Bell last time so we certainly gave the ball a good kick and had 2 bottles of wine between us too.
Back home we had a night cap and Captain Caveman fell asleep!
