I was a bit emotional and stressed on Thursday 6th November – mainly caused by menopause symptoms and tiredness. I’d not slept too well, Norman wouldn’t go down the stairs for his morning walk and I struggled to carry him. I was no longer relying on a crutch but I still struggled on the stairs, myself. At the bottom of the stairs Norman slipped a little getting down the final ones but he was fine. We were back from our walk before 7.30am and Norman was keen to eat his breakfast then get back to bed.
I got on with work including finding some flights for a friend who was taking a long haul business class trip to visit family next year.
My friend Debbie, from Fat Club, and her husband Alan, came round with a new office chair for me. Being a little less mobile had meant I’d not been able to collect it so they had very kindly wheeled it round and Alan had carried it up the stairs. It was amazing and super comfy – just what I needed when I had been sat on a wooden folding chair for the last year!
Since hurting my foot I’d had to resort to having my office in the kitchen so I now had a big red super comfy office chair at the kitchen table and I loved it! Even Norman approved and got out of bed to give it a good sniff and get some attention off Alan. They didn’t even stay for a cup of tea and I was so touched by their kindness.
Later on, I was having trouble with my planner and the layout of my internal pages, despite listening to the training a few times over. Luckily, our Resort Experts team meeting got cancelled which gave me more time. I had a chat with Dagne (Majorca Resort Expert) and Helen (Italy Resort Expert) who were so supportive and encouraging about my planner and we discussed ideas. They were colleagues who had become good friends despite us never meeting in person, only on Teams and Zoom.
At 3pm I decided to take Norman out because he’d not indicated he needed to pee and it had been a while! He stood at the top of the steps and refused to budge. Jamie tells me he just plays up for me, and walks down stairs with him fine!
I still carried him down and perched him at the entrance, where the 2 big steps still caused him to be hesitant and stressed. I had to carry him again just because time was ticking on now and I’d not eaten anything but toast with my tea for breakfast.
Norman got his dinner and another walk before dark and after I had spent far too long doing what can only be described as faffing about with bloody margins! It was an absolute ball ache which nearly tipped me over the edge!
I warmed up left over Thai chicken curry for dinner at gone 9pm, by which time Norman had decided it was bedtime and took himself off to his bed. I decided a glass of wine would be a good idea and drank it, still sat in my new office chair.
Gratitude List
1. An amazing office chair from lovely friends
2. Norman
3. Having Dagne and Helen to keep me sane and on track to get my planner published.
